Tata Motors has not evolved the Curvv completely till now. Nearly two years after the coupe SUV enter production in August 2024, a fresh camouflaged prototype spotted testing on 13 July 2026 sparks talk of a new alternative-fuel powertrain. All the industry buzz points to either Tata’s dual-cylinder iCNG setup or first ever E85 flex-fuel version. This hints the brand’s push to expand the Curvv lineup beyond petrol, diesel, and electric options.
Reality of Curvv CNG & E85 Flex Fuel
Well, the strongest theory points towards Tata’s proven dual-cylinder iCNG technology which is already used in the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Altroz and Nexon. Tata previously confirm plans to introduce CNG in passenger vehicles measuring over 4 metres that makes the Curvv a natural fit. And if launch, it may become India’s first mainstream coupe SUV with a factory fitted CNG option.
Now comes the second possibility which is equally important i.e. E85 Flex Fuel. Tata may evaluate an E85 flex-fuel Curvv capable of running on fuel containing upto 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. The updated 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine will require revised fuel injection, ECU mapping, and ethanol-resistant components that supports India’s long-term ethanol mobility roadmap that too in limited E85 fuel availability in current market. The latest Tata Curvv prototype isn’t drawing attention because of its design but because of what is really hiding underneath. Tata sold 1,753 units in June 2026 that mark 15% rise over May but 14.9% decline year-on-year. And over the last 12 months, cumulative sales reach 18,763 units, averaging nearly 1,560 units per month, far below its 3,000 – 5,000 unit monthly peak during late 2025. Now this upcoming CNG or E85 Flex-Fuel likely to boost the sales.

Well, the test mule already clears that the Tata appears to be testing a new powertrain, the rest of the Curvv expected to remain unchanged. Buyers can expect the same coupe-SUV styling, over-4-metre footprint, spacious five-seat cabin and premium interior. The SUV also likely to retain its existing suspension setup, along with key safety features such as six airbags, ESC, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Pricing Strategy with CNG Version
Here comes an important part on which every buyer of India look at, the Tata Curvv currently carries an ex-showroom price of ₹9.76 lakh to ₹18.96 lakh. And if the anticipated iCNG version joins the lineup which means it may cost around ₹1 lakh more than the comparable petrol model.
