After patenting several global SUVs, the company filed the Lepas L4 Electric SUV in India under Design No. 477148-001 with the application dated 16 October 2025. The design was publish in the Indian Patent/Design Journal on 13 July 2026 which bring the SUV into the public spotlight. First unveiled at Auto China 2026, the L4 has now become another key addition to Chery’s growing India patent portfolio, strengthening speculation that the automaker is building a future-ready product lineup for India.

The SUV likely to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 7.8 seconds, reach a top speed of 160 km/h, and will offer a claimed driving range of upto 600 km (CLTC) with around 450 km expected under stricter global test cycles.
Cabin & Tech Features
When it come to cabin upgrades, the cabin is likely to offer a premium experience with a 9.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, 50W wireless charging, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, and a Level 2 ADAS suite featuring around 21 advanced safety and driver assistance functions.
When will Chery Lepas L4 EV Launch In India?
Well, the Chery has not officially confirm an India launch for the Lepas L4, but the latest patent publication certainly sparks fresh speculation. With multiple Chery SUVs already patented in India and reports linking the company with JSW for its future passenger vehicle business, the groundwork appears to be progressing.
The company’s reported India plans also include models like the JSW Chery iCar V23 Electric SUV. So, if the plans goes will and reach to production, the Lepas L4 may become one of the first premium electric SUVs from the Chery Group to reach Indian showrooms.
