Global Comeback
Well, the Volkswagen officially revived the Polo globally as the All New ID. Polo, an electric hatchback built on the latest MEB+ platform. And this model offers 37 kWh and 52 kWh battery options, upto 454 km WLTP range, multiple power outputs reaching 208 bhp, fast charging from 10% to 80% in around 23 minutes, and even a performance-focused ID. Polo GTI with 226 hp.
VW Polo India’s Version
As the Europe gets an electric hatchback, India expected to receive a compact SUV instead. Industry reports suggest Volkswagen may adapt the recently launch Tera for India by reducing its length below 4 metres to qualify for lower taxation. Interestingly, the company may even revive the legendary Polo badge for this all-new SUV but official confirmation is still not made.
Coming to platform and engine options, the upcoming Polo compact SUV expected to use Volkswagen Group’s localized MQB A0 IN platform shared with the Skoda Kylaq, Taigun, and Virtus. And likely to use 1.0-litre TSI producing around 114 bhp and 178 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic and the 1.5 TSI GT remains under evaluation.
When come to features, the VW Polo shares its foundation with the Skoda Kylaq, expect the new model to offer a premium feature list including an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, ventilated powered front seats, automatic climate control, six airbags, ad a sunroof that Indian buyers strongly prefer.
Volkswagen Polo Launch & Pricing Update
Well, currently the Volkswagen’s main focus remains on models like the Golf GTI, Tiguan R-Line, Tayron, and Updated Taigun Facelift 2026 which means the Polo’s return may delay. All sources and reports claim India debut in late 2027. Coming to price, then it will depend on type of car Polo make comeback. Yes, if launch in the petrol hatchback it may cost between ₹8 – ₹14 lakh, if comes as rumoured compact SUV then pricing likely to sit ₹7.5 – ₹14 lakh, and if comes as the electric ID. Polo then the pricing may fall between ₹25 – ₹30 lakh.
