From rugged Jeep maker to global SUV powerhouse, Mahindra is scripting its next chapter with the Vision T. Yes, Mahindra’s biggest future-SUV buzz, the Vision T is grabbing headlines as the rugged-yet-premium Thar successor. Unveiled on 15 August 2025 at the Freedom NU event, it rides on the all-new NU_IQ platform, packing petrol, diesel, hybrid & EV options, FWD/AWD Capability, Level 2+ ADAS, a 4.3-metre footprint, and an expected 2027 – 2028 production debut with prices estimated around ₹12.5 – ₹20 lakh.
Mahindra’s Next Gen SUV Blueprint
Well, the biggest headline is the all-new NU_IQ platform, making the Vision T far more than just another concept. This blueprint was out on 15 August 2025 as the foundation for its next-generation global SUVs. That means Vision T is one of four concepts unveiled alongside the Mahindra Vision SXT during the Freedom NU event.
This flexible monocoque architecture supports petrol, diesel, hybrid & EV powertrains with FWD & AWD layouts, targets global 5-star safety, and will underpin production models beginning in December 2027 that also going to redefine the Mahindra’s future SUV roadmap.
Thar Upgraded Design

Looking at the first glance, the Vision.T instantly reminds you of the Thar but every detail looks sharper and more futuristic. The boxy silhouette, exposed hinges, muscular wheel arches, squared LED lighting, and six-slat grille retain Mahindra’s rugged identity while hidden rear door handles and premium styling hint at a global lifestyle SUV measuring around 4.3 metres in length.
Engines, Power, Range, & Performance
Well, the Vision T’s biggest strength is its flexible NU_IQ platform, expected to support four powertrains i.e. EV, petrol, diesel, and strong hybrid. Likely options include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre mHawk diesel with both Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations.
The all-electric version is likely to offer over 500 km of driving range using a battery pack of upto 79 kWh while supporting DC fast charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. ICE and hybrid variants may offer 15 to 18 km/l with expected outputs of 150 hp and upto 300 Nm of torque.
Premium Cabin, Space, & Comfort
As you step inside the cabin the Vision T is design around a commanding SUV experience with 1,563 mm high seating position, a spacious 5-seat layout, and an expansive 2,665 mm wheelbase. A completely flat rear floor, 937 mm of second-row legroom, 229 mm central gangway, and 1,404 mm rear shoulder room promise exceptional passenger comfort, while the boot offers 450 litres, expanding to 622 to 644 litres.
The cabin likely to feature a rugged dual-tone black-and-green theme with durable premium materials designed to withstand dust, mud and water. A 3-spoke steering wheel carrying the Vision T logo, soft-touch surfaces, and practical storage solutions reinforce its lifestyle SUV character while maintaining everyday usability.
Technology, Platform, Ride, & Safety Features
When come to tech features, the blueprint clears that it takes centre stage with a large portrait touchscreen, a standalone digital driver’s display, physical HVAC controls, a steering-mounted start/stop button, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and Mahindra’s latest AdrenoX connected-car system.
And the new NU_IQ monocoque platform pairs with a sophisticated 5-link (penta-link) rear suspension, 227 mm ground clearance, and 28°/28.2°/34.9° off-road angles while Da Vinci damper technology and a 10.3 – 10.5 m turning radius aim to improve comfort and agility.
Mahindra targeting 5-star Euro NCAP and Asia NCAP crash ratings. This also hints that safety features like Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a reinforced body structure engineered for fire & water resistance, and advanced active safety systems for enhanced occupant protection.
Mahindra Vision T Expected Price & Rivals
Mahindra is likely to price the Vision T between ₹12.50 lakh to ₹20.00 lakh (ex-showroom), with petrol variants likely starting the range and AWD, hybrid, and EV models sitting at the top end. Position as a premium lifestyle SUV, so it will primarily rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Force Gurkha, and Mahindra Thar Roxx or 2026 Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift while offering broader powertrain choices.
Well, the Mahindra Vision T comes with everything to become a game-changer rather than just another SUV launch. By combining authentic off-road capability with premium comfort, future ready powertrains and global engineering, it sets the tone for Mahindra’s next era. As one of the Upcoming 6 New Mahindra Models Launching, the Vision T may easily become the brand’s biggest highlight if it reaches production as promised.
