What’s New Coming in Tata Punch Flex Fuel?
Starting with the main upgrade, the Complete Engine Setup. Yes, the Tata Motors likely to have new modified engine that can use regular petrol to E85/E100. And the most possible and practical engine choice for upgrade is 1.2L Revotron Naturally Aspirated (NA) Petrol and reason behind is simple flex-fuel tech is easier and cheaper to adapt on an NA petrol engine than on 1.2L Turbocharged Petrol or 1.2L iCNG (Petrol + CNG) setups.

And this modified 1.2L Revotron NA Engine setup comes with benefits like lower fuel cost, reduced emissions, E20/E85/E100 compatibility, updated fuel injectors, corrosion-resistant fuel lines, and ECU calibration for multiple ethanol blends. All this make Tata Punch Flex Fuel more city focus and eco friendly option. The current 1.2L Revotron Naturally Aspirated (NA) Petrol engine produces 88 PS power and 115 Nm torque with a 5-speed manual or AMT, it gives smoothness in driving.

Now with high-ethanol blends (like E85/E100) you may see small performance dip which may be between 82 – 86 PS and 108 – 112 Nm, unless Tata specifically retunes the ECU to recover output. Not just that, Mileage also drop because ethanol has lower energy density than petrol. So from current petrol’s ARAI-rated mileage ~18.8 – 20 km/l, this will likely drop 14 – 17 km/l (estimated) real-world.
