The Nissan Motor Company surprises everyone with two concept SUVs at the Auto China 2026. The Nissan Terrano PHEV and Urban SUV PHEV Concept clearly shows that the Nissan is shifting towards electric mobility. And the starting of this is already done in China as the Nissan brand is accelerating development, innovation, and future-ready vehicle technologies at a rapid pace.
At the recent event of the Auto China 2026, the Nissan confirms both the Urban SUV PHEV Concept and Terrano PHEV Concept are part of New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Strategy. And these concepts are mix of electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and range-extended EVs. And this also clears that the Nissan is targeting to fulfill all demand buyers.

Nissan Urban SUV PHEV Concept
The Urban SUV PHEV Concept is design for younger, city-focused customers in China. At the Auto China Show 2026, the Nissan confirms this concept has modern styling with practical electrification. You can also say that this is the Nissan’s future SUV design language that focuses to give better performance, connectivity, and efficiency. This also means you may get sleek proportions, aerodynamic efficiency, and a bold front fascia design.
This Urban SUV Concept uses a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system and likely to carry Nissan NX8 inspiration. And the company also highlights that this step going to offer electric driving for short city trips while maintaining the flexibility of a combustion engine for longer distances.
Nissan Terrano PHEV Concept
Coming to the Terrano PHEV, this model looks like Nissan is returning with iconic nameplate under the Nissan Terrano legacy. This means the company is reimagine the Terrano as a modern electrified SUV with its old traditional strengths of durability and off-road capability. And now will also get this with new advanced hybrid technology.
The Terrano PHEV Concept focus on more versatility which means this model will give better comfort and handling at both city and off road conditions. Well, at the Auto China 2026 Event one more important thing announced is timeline. Yes, Nissan officially clears that the production versions of both concepts are expected to be within one year. And the other thing cleared by officials is you may see fast production of these concepts and the first production will be seen in Chinese market. But after that Nissan will to production of this model at the global level.
